Oncology social work services available at GHCI
The Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute has a licensed oncology social worker that is available to patients, their families, and their caregivers to assist with issues surrounding a cancer diagnosis.
Social work provides the following counseling and support services that include but are not limited to:
- Advocacy
- Advance Directives
- Care Coordination
- Communication
- Education
- Employment- FMLA, Short/Long Term Disability
- Financial- Applying for pharmaceutical assistance, charitable organization applications
- Insurance- Medicare, Medicaid, Secondary Insurance
- Logistics- Housing, Transportation
Additionally, our social worker is equipped to help patient’s identify and address other challenges such as abuse, neglect, violence, and legal issues.
