Transportation services available for GHCI patients

A cancer diagnosis can be costly and stressful. At Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute (GHCI) we do all we can to ease your worries. This includes concerns about transportation to and from our center. We realize that cancer treatments often require many visits, and you also may experience side effects from treatment that may prevent you from driving. Arranging for rides can be challenging and should not be a barrier to your care. That is why we are here to help. Our social worker is available to assess, identify and arrange transportation for patients who qualify. Simply call her at 810.762. 8122.

Transportation services available for those who qualify

Here are three transportation resources GHCI uses for patients who qualify. Please note: GHCI does not have its own transportation service.

MTA Rides to Wellness

Rides to Wellness is a non-emergency medical transportation service that provides door-to-door, same day or pre-scheduled service for those who need transportation for medical treatments and other related appointments.

Genesee County Department of Veterans Services/Vets to Wellness program

This free, door-to-door, same day or pre-scheduled transportation service is available for qualifying veterans, their spouses and surviving widows. The GHCI social worker will arrange this service for you. Veterans must be honorably discharged and a resident of Genesee County.

American Cancer Society Road to Recovery Program

The American Cancer Society, through its Road to Recovery Program, provides free transportation to and from treatment. Please note: due to public safety concerns related to COVID 19, the American Cancer Society is not currently providing transportation services.
